Our DFA studio does not happen without the amazing people both in our organization and those who support us externally. Interested in connecting with us or getting involved? Check out the different roles members of our network take, and feel free to contact us with any questions or interest.
Designers. Engineers. Businesspeople. Critical Thinkers. Innovators. It doesn’t matter — If you are passionate about creating positive social change, DFA wants you. We are open to all majors, all years, and most importantly, all ideas!
(And what we expect from you!)
We hold studio-wide meetings from 1-3 pm every Sunday in Steger 600. This is the time to think up crazy projects, bounce ideas off one another, and share what your project teams have been working on. Each project team will usually hold an additional meeting during the week to work on their design.
The bottom line? The more you put in, the more you’ll get out. DFA is a great way to put your ideas to work in a real-world application. No rules, just innovation.
We can’t wait to work with you! At the beginning of each semester, we open up an application to join DFA. Check back here later to jump on board when the next application opens! In the meantime, be sure to follow us on our social media accounts to stay up-to-date with what we're doing and the recruitment process.
If you are interested but not sure you want to fully commit yet, don't worry! We hold information sessions the first couple weeks of each semester, where you can come get more info and ask us questions. We also host a no-commitment Design Sprint before official meetings start, so you can get hands-on experience with the DFA process and see if you want to join!
Contact us to see if DFA is right for you! Also, you can always feel free to shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
DFA is more than a student organization: it is a network of students who are learning important skills and changing the world. We are always looking for experts and professionals to share their skills and experience with our studio.
As a mentor, you can assist our studio in a variety of ways. Whatever you are interested in or whatever your time commitment, the University of Cincinnati DFA studio welcomes your guidance! Our mentors can do anything, including providing guidance and advice to project teams, attending critiques and final reviews, connecting us with other community members and organizations, speaking at skillshares or events, and even simply bringing a new perspective to the table.

DFA’s core is a national network of creative innovators dedicated to solving problems in our community. Every project we work on is established with support from local partners, including both individuals and organizations.
Our partners’ roles include helping us define areas of social need, connecting us with users and stakeholders, providing us with resources and connections for prototyping and implementation, or all of the above.
DFA tackles problems relating to economy, education, environment, and health. If you or your company/organization fall under one or several of these missions, we would love to discuss potential opportunities!
